Krystal Dawkins

Born in Jamaica, Krystal developed a passion for literature, history and storytelling during her formative years. After graduating from The University of the West Indies, she migrated to the US and completed internships in the film and television industry, before going on to earn her Masters in Film Production from San Diego State University. She has written, produced, and directed multiple short films. Her thesis film Learning to Swim (2018) - shot on location in Jamaica - won Best Student Film at the San Diego International Film Festival, and was an official selection of the 2020 Pan African Film Festival. It was also one of six Jamaican short films selected to be shown during the Jamaican Film and Television Association (JAFTA) Block at Carifesta 2019, and the 2019 Uppsala International Short Film Festival in Sweden. Currently a Video/Content Specialist in Carlsbad, California, Krystal enjoys the beach and is constantly writing.
