B.A. Theatre Arts, Emphasis in Youth Theatre

The B.A. Theatre Arts, Emphasis in Youth Theatre is aimed theatre majors interested in working as teachers or teaching artists in classrooms and communities. Coursework includes an overview of the field of Theatre for Young audiences as well as learning how to integrate theatre arts into multiple subject areas. Students acquire skills in curriculum design and leading theatre activities. SDSU is proud to host one of a select number of Theatre Credential programs in the State of California. Students interested in earning their Theatre Teaching Credential are supported in obtaining the required prerequisites and applying to the credential program, which is housed in SDSU’s College of Education.

To apply for undergraduate admission to SDSU, you need to apply online at CalState Apply.

At the time of the application, you can select your Pre-Major as “Theatre – Youth Theatre (662527).”

The Theatre major is designated as an Impacted program. Students first declare as Theatre pre-majors. To be considered for advancement into the Youth Theatre emphasis students must meet the following requirements:

  1. Complete THEA 100, 120, 130, and TFM 160 with a grade of C or higher
  2. Have a cumulative GPA of 2.4 or higher
