The Television, Film and New Media major is an Impacted program. Students first declare as TFM pre-majors. To be considered for advancement into the Production emphasis students must submit a petition portfolio and meet the following criteria:


  1. Complete TFM 160 and THEA 100 with a grade of B or higher. These classes must be completed with grades on file prior to petitioning to be accepted into the major.
  2. Submit a personal statement.
  3. Submit two letters of recommendation (letters must be signed and dated).
  4. Complete a minimum of 15 college semester units.
  5. Have a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher.
  6. Submit samples of visual creative work (Demo Reel/DVD).
  7. Submit a story treatment for a 1-3 min production.
  8. Include transcript(s) (unofficial is fine) from all colleges attended.
  9. Transfer students must include your letter of acceptance to SDSU.

This advising sheet does not include your General Education Requirements. A minor is not required for this major.
